DEEZHOG. I wore this hoodie all through our US/UK/Germany/SXSW tour this spring. It was designed and printed by Michael Files in Asheville, NC. The hedgehog design was inspired by Deez friend, fellow musician, and Asheville resident Angi West's love for the spiky balls of cute. The hair, of course, is Darwin's.
Michael created the deezhog to commemorate Angi’s birthday, and our back to back gigs at Emerald Lounge. He then printed a limited run of tees and sweatshirts which we took with us on tour. Three shows later we had sold out.
This is the loudest article of clothing I own. It has received more compliments and smiles from strangers than any other. And, it makes me happy every time I put it on.
I am happy to report that Michael has decided to make more DEEZHOG clothes. You can get them at his website, HERE.
Dear J,
Chain passes over teeth, wind in my ears keeps me company on the ride home from. Watch reads 3:30. I step into my empty apartment. The strays that lurk under my window have finally gone to sleep, or found something better. This song breaks the quiet, and my mind pedals backward through the empty streets.
Even a whale singing the wrong frequency must find some comfort in her echo.

There were so many bands to see. Everyone has their picks and lists. More often than not, there were acts that I wanted to catch and was unable to. Scheduling and long lines provided the greatest challenge, but sometimes you’d just hear about shows too late. Nevertheless, over our three day stay, I managed to catch an average of seven bands a day. Here is a list of who, in the order that I saw them.
I hope to play SXSW again next year. So much good music… so much fun.
